The Maine DOE is reminding all schools serving K-12 students that they are required to appoint a staff member to be the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Coordinator responsible for oversight of pest prevention, management and monitoring activities. Schools must report the name and e-mail address of the IPM Coordinator in MEDMS or by email to the Maine Board of Pesticides Control at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, each school’s IPM Coordinator is required to complete the Initial Training Module [PDF or PowerPoint Presentation] within one month of appointment and attend a Comprehensive Training Workshop. For IPM Coordinators who have not yet participated in the Comprehensive Training, four free regional workshops have been scheduled in February and April. These workshops are appropriate for anyone with interest or responsibilities for school facilities management including nutrition staff, classroom teachers, agricultural education staff, custodians, maintenance and grounds staff.
