Maine educators, students and families are invited to attend the first annual Maine Science Festival in Bangor this March 20-22.
This premier science event will stimulate interest in science among festival-goers of all ages, heighten awareness of the impact of science on everyday life and demonstrate the diversity of scientific enterprise in Maine. Events include a Teen Tech Night, high school state science fair, science scavenger hunt around Bangor and sessions on science in children’s literature, crime scene investigation and the intersection of science and economic development.
All festival events with the exception of a presentation by Academy Award® winning scientist Tony DeRose from Pixar Studios are free. Tony DeRose’s presentation, “Science on the Screen and Behind the Scenes at Pixar,” will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21at the Cross Insurance Center. Following the 30 minute talk, DeRose will answer questions and there will be a screening of three Pixar shorts, for which DeRose will share special behind the scenes commentary for each short.
