The Maine DOE has released an updated Maine State Individualized Education Program (IEP) Procedural Manual which can be found here on its website.
The manual has been revised to include additional guidance on the topics of present levels of academic, functional and developmental performance; limited English proficiency; and print disability. As with the development of the IEP form currently in use and of the original manual, the revisions were the work of a committee made up of members of the Department (including representatives of CDS) and practitioners in the field. The Department encourages all practitioners engaged in writing IEPs to review the recent revisions, and to consult the manual whenever questions arise about how to do that important work.
For more information or technical assistance related to the manual, please contact Roberta Lucas or Jon Braff at the Maine DOE at roberta.lucas@maine.gov (207-624-6676) or jonathan.braff@maine.gov (207-624-6671).
