Maine DOE opens registration for 30th annual school wellness conference

Maine schools are invited to attend the 30th Annual Maine DOE Schoolsite Health Promotion & Wellness Conference from Wednesday, June 24 through Friday, June 26 at Sugarloaf.

The conference will be headlined by Murray Banks, an educator and world champion athlete; Randy Judkins, a master facilitator of cooperative game play, improv and dynamic group activities; Norm Bossio, an award-winning speaker and former teacher, principal and superintendent; Jana Stanfield, an accomplished songwriter and musician; and Dave Cowens, a mainstay of the Boston Celtics in the 1970s who led his team to NBA championships in 1974 and 1976 and now coaches.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the conference will feature more than 30 workshops sessions and learning opportunities to assist in the development and maintenance of a program and culture supporting health promotion and wellness at the local level. The conference also provides dedicated school team time to design an action plan for the coming school year that will work to enhance school climate and school environment; improve the health of students and staff; and contribute to personal well-being and therefore contribute to a healthier learning environment and improved academic performance.
