2015 Educator Talent Pool recommendations due May 1

The Maine DOE is accepting recommendations for the 2015 Maine Educator Talent Pool through May 1.

The talent pool is made up of teachers and principals who may be considered for membership on local and state advisory boards and task forces, along with special recognition opportunities through the Maine DOE.

The Department is currently seeking middle and secondary level educators (grades 6-12) relatively new to the profession, with five to 18 years of experience, who show unusual instructional ability; inspire their students, colleagues and community members; have strong leadership potential; and are comparable to the nation’s best educators.

Candidates are typically certified classroom teachers holding at minimum a bachelor’s degree. Previous recognition is not required. In fact, the Maine DOE is especially interested in educators who are outstanding but have not received other recognition.

Please provide confidential, succinct and specific information regarding candidates on the recommendation form. All questions must be answered completely, preferably typewritten. Submissions should also include a one-page narrative that addresses how a candidate meets the talent pool criteria as listed on the recommendation form, and a resume from his or her personnel file. The recommendation should remain confidential and not be shared with the nominated individual.

  1. Hi Julia, this opportunity is targeted specifically to early- to mid-career educators that offer strong long-range potential (at least 25 more years) for professional and policy leadership.
