Learning Through Technology team on the road

Members of Maine’s Learning Through Technology Team have been traveling across the state in recent weeks to highlight new information, review policies, and a remind schools of the supports MLTI offers.

Mike Muir, Policy Director for the Learning Through Technology Team, gave a presentation on “Where we’ve been and where we’re going” that provided history and a vision for the Maine Learning Technology Initiative to return strongly to its original focus on learning. To date, Maine is still the biggest and only statewide 1:1 Learning Initiative in the country.

Mike Muir and Sherry Wyman, School Library Liaison and Technology Integration Coordinator, have also been attending regional Curriculum and Superintendents’ meetings in the state, sharing the work of the team and communicating how learning through technology can best support leadership around proficiency based diplomas, teacher effectiveness, and improved learning experiences for students using technology.

Mike Muir also presented two sessions at the Maine Principals’ Conference in November that was held in South Portland: keeping education technology focused on learning, and shared leadership teams.
