Enhanced student information system to replace Infinite Campus State Edition

The Maine Department of Education is pleased to announce the partnership of Edupoint Educational Systems to bring the power and flexibility of their Synergy Student Information System to Maine. The new Synergy system will replace the current state-level student information and reporting system, Infinite Campus State Edition (ICSE). Infinite Campus will continue as Maine DOE’s student data system in the interim until Synergy is fully installed, configured and tested.

The new system will accept the same information from the school districts that they now submit to the Department, virtually eliminating any additional burden at the local level. However, several local districts that feel they also could use an updated local student information system may work directly with Edupoint.

The Synergy product will allow for more flexibility to meet ever-changing state and federal student data collection requirements without sacrificing security and privacy. It will integrate with other data systems that the Department uses for school finance, school staff, transportation, and adult ED, etc. using the industry standard Ed-Fi integration tools.

“Student data represents one of the cornerstones for the Department of Education as we try to make informed decisions on improving educational results for Maine people,” says Maine’s Education Data Manager, Brian Snow. “The Synergy product promises better control of the quality of information collected, which can then ensure better decisions.”

Edupoint was selected out of a field of seven competitive bidders based on the processes required by the Maine Bureau of Purchases. The contract is currently awaiting final approval from the Bureau of Purchases. Work is expected to begin on the project next month. The current project plan calls for the Synergy system to be fully implemented for the 2017-2018 school year starting in July 2017.
