On May 16, the Maine Department of Education issued a Priority Notice about the federal requirement under ESSA that all teachers of students with disabilities be fully certified. Maine DOE estimates approximately 300 to 400 teachers may be affected by this requirement.
In an effort to keep the field informed of progress on the resolution of this issue, the Department has posted a list of questions and answers, which will be frequently updated as information is made available.
