Later this month, numerous agencies including the Maine Department of Education will kick off the sixth annual Summer Food Service Program in Bangor and Brewer.
The Good Shepherd Food Bank, in collaboration with the Bangor Housing Authority, Bangor Public Library, Bangor School Department, Brewer Housing Authority, and Maine Department of Education, is sponsoring six summer lunch sites where children can receive free nutritious meals this summer, a time when the school lunches they depend on throughout the school year are unavailable.
Dignitaries from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. are expected to be on hand for the kick-off on Friday, June 24 in Bangor.
