Public Charter School applications open through June 14

The Maine Charter School issued the following Request for Proposal last week.

The Maine Charter School Commission, “the Commission,” is currently soliciting the development of public charter school applications throughout the State of Maine. The Commission is seeking detailed applications, fully addressing the key issues, from capable school developers who are committed to educating their students well in a successful, sustainable, high quality charter school. With a May 31, 2016, RFP issue date, the approved school is to open September 2017.

The Commission encourages all interested parties to obtain a copy of the RFP and submit a competitive proposal.

An entity that intends to submit an application in response to an RFP must file a Letter of Intent with the Commission not later than 15 days after the RFP issue date (June 14, 2016 by 5:00 p.m.). Please find a “Letter of Intent” form on the MCSC website.

An informational meeting regarding the RFP will be held Thursday June 2, 2016, at the Burton M. Cross Office Building 111 Sewall Street, 1st Floor in Room 103A.  Notes from this meeting will be available on the MCSC Website on or before Monday, June 13, 2016.

Proposals must be submitted to the Maine Charter School Commission by 5 p.m., local time, on Thursday August 25, 2016. Proposals may be hand delivered to the Commission at the Burton M. Cross Office Building, 111 Sewall Street, 5th Floor, Augusta or mailed to the Commission at 182 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333-0182. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Proposals not received by the deadline will not be considered.
