IDEA Part B Program Performance Reporting to Close January 13

ARRA Special Education Programs under IDEA Part B (Local Entitlement) Program Performance Reporting will close at the end of the business day on Friday Jan 13, 2012. Special education rules and ‘Transfer Students’

The Maine Department of Education has added a question and answer to the Maine Unified Special Education Regulations (MUSER) Questions and Answers document found on the Department’s website. The new question and answer address children with current Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) who transfer to a different school administrative unit during the summer months.

Federal grant will increase the ranks of highly qualified teachers working with special-needs students

Federal funding cuts affect Maine programs

On Oct. 5, 2011, the President signed a second FY 2012 Continuing Appropriations Resolution to provide funding for the federal government through Nov. 18, 2011.  Included in this resolution was a 1.5  percent rescission to funds appropriated for several educational programs, including programs funded under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), and the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act.
