Melissa Small, the Jobs for Maine’s Graduates specialist at Sanford High School, and three of her students participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk in Gowen Park in Sanford on Sept. 29. The event raised $1,197 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Veterans Day will be observed this year on Monday, Nov. 12. We’re interested to know how schools in Maine mark the day and sharing their celebrations with other schools and educators.

The Office of Information Systems and the Office of the Revisor of Statutes have announced that the online version of the Maine Revised Statutes, reflecting changes made through the Second Regular Session of the 125th Legislature, which adjourned May 31, 2012, is now available at www.legislature.maine.gov/statutes.
Maine adult education programs can now submit requests for proposals for the second round of adult education technology grants.

For the last 10 years the Maine Department of Education has worked with the U.S. Department of Education and the College Board to acquire grant money to cover the entire Advanced Placement exam fee for low-income students who are enrolled in an AP course. However, with major cuts at the federal level, the Department will no longer be able to fund the full cost of the 2013 AP exam fees.
