We are excited to co-host the Arts Learning Exchange Series with the Maine Arts Commission! A collaboration between the World Languages and Multilingual Learners departments at Mount View High School in RSU 3 is creating more opportunities for students to demonstrate, celebrate, and build on their language skills. Being a school principal can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be demanding. Each day brings decisions to make, challenges to navigate and people to support. Sometimes a leader needs a new strategy. Other times, they need the opportunity to step back, reflect and talk with someone who understands the work because they are doing it, too. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is October 12. This day recognizes the resilience, diversity, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples and provides an opportunity to center Indigenous voices, deepen our understanding of the impacts of colonization, and recognize the continued presence and leadership of Indigenous Peoples today. The Maine DOE’s Green Schools Peer Learning Workshops are starting this fall! These virtual meetings offer practical resources, real-world examples, and time to collaborate with others on your school or district’s sustainability efforts. The Maine Department of Education (DOE), in collaboration with the Maine Roads to Quality Professional Development Network (MRTQ PDN), is offering a free professional learning opportunity for early care and education professionals working in preschool and kindergarten settings. In October, November, and December, the Maine Department of Education (DOE) will host McKinney-Vento Fall 2026 Regional Meetings to provide updates on federal, state, and local policies and discuss resources available to students and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This fall, the Maine DOE is excited to host three regional gatherings in partnership with the Maine Environmental Education Association! Please join us as we bring together teachers, students, school leaders, and community organizations for a day of networking, resource sharing, and interactive workshops designed to help schools design and implement sustainability plans. The gatherings will center on youth leadership, with opportunities for students to build a shared vision and collaborate toward youth-led action in schools. At RSU14 Windham Raymond Schools, educators are using the BARR model to strengthen relationships, better understand student needs, and create a school community where every learner can thrive.
