A new website explaining Maine’s shift to a reimbursement model for funding federal education programs is up and running at the Maine DOE homepage.

Beginning July 1, 2011, as required by federal regulation, Maine will move to a reimbursement model for funding federal education programs at the local level. School administrative units will follow certain procedures in order to be reimbursed for federal program expenditures.
The new site provides guidance in three areas: the new reimbursement method, closing out cash management from previous years (this must be done before funds can be disbursed under the new model), and instructions on applying for Electronic Funds Transfer, for those who wish.
