MEDMS gets upgrades; staff data collection reopens

The Maine Education Data Management System’s staff edition has received a number of upgrades and is open for staff data collection for the 2011-12 school year.

Staff data are due in MEDMS Staff by Sept. 30.

By Sept. 6, Maine school districts will have the ability to upload staff data directly from their local data systems to the state data system.

Unless they use Infinite Campus or ADS, districts should inform John McCue, MEDMS administrator, of the names and contact information for the vendors they’re using to manage staff data. This information will allow MEDMS administrators to ensure the systems are compatible.

McCue can be reached by email at john.mccue@maine.gov or by phone at 207-624-6803.

Other upgrades to MEDMS Staff include:

  • Improved functionality in popular web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari;
  • Easier-to-use data entry interface;
  • Removal of data fields the Department of Education no longer uses; and
  • More user-friendly and presentable reports.

MEDMS administrators are gearing up for a full redesign of the application for fall 2012. The Department of Education’s data team expects to conduct meetings to gather requirements for an overhauled system beginning in late fall 2011.

See the 2011-12 Staff Information web page for additional information and instructions.
