Conference offered on Common Core

Teachers, administrators and school board members will gain insight into Maine’s implementation of the Common Core state standards and federal education policy during a daylong conference on Oct. 24 in Lewiston.

The Maine Department of Education and the Maine Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (Maine ASCD) are sponsoring “Connecting with the Common Core Standards,” which will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Lewiston’s Ramada Conference Center.

The gathering will feature updates on Maine’s implementation of the standards from Maine DOE English Language Arts specialist Patsy Dunton and Lee Anne Larsen, the Department’s literacy specialist.

David Griffith, public policy director for the national Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, will also speak.
