Two gifted-and-talented workshops this fall

The Maine Department of Education is sponsoring free workshops this fall for teachers and administrators new to working in and overseeing gifted and talented education programs.

The workshop will offer information about gifted-and-talented programming in a question-and-answer format. Teachers and administrators are encouraged to come with questions and share resources.

Workshop topics will include: identification tools; curriculum options; organizing and managing gifted-and-talented programs; evaluating program effectiveness; and this year’s gifted-and-talented program application.

The workshops will be held on Oct. 6 in Bangor and Oct. 12 in Freeport. The information presented will be the same on both days. Each session will last from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Both will offer coffee and and muffins; neither will offer lunch.

The Oct. 6 session takes place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor.

The Oct. 12 session takes place at the Freeport Community Library.
