The Maine Department of Education has issued a request for proposals seeking bids to establish community learning centers that provide students academic support and enrichment opportunities outside the normal school day.

The request for proposals — which includes information about who is eligible to apply — is available on the website of the Maine State Division of Purchases.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program is a federal program that awards grant funds aimed at providing children academic support during non-school hours. The program specifically targets children who attend schools with high rates of eligibility for free- and reduced-price meals.
