Workshop offers tips on pest management for school grounds

School staff members involved in the safe management of school grounds are encouraged to attend a four-hour workshop April 11 on Integrated Pest Management at Cape Elizabeth Middle School organized by the Maine Department of Agriculture.

The workshop, called “Managing School Turf: ABC’s, BMP’s and IPM,” will offer information on maintaining beautiful school grounds, sports fields, and parks through the use of an Integrated Pest Management program. The session will feature an introduction from Pat Hinckley, the Maine Department of Education’s School Facilities and Transportation Consultant.

School Integrated Pest Management coordinators, grounds and maintenance directors and staff, school health and safety coordinators, school administrators and athletic directors are encouraged to attend.

Register by April 2 by downloading a “Managing School Turf” flyer from the Department of Education’s Chemicals in Schools page.
