Transportation year-end reports due Nov. 19

Transportation year-end reports (EF-T-21 and EF-T-24) will be due Nov. 19, 2012, for fiscal year 2011-12 data submission.

Since May, the Maine Department of Education has been working to computerize and automate the school transportation data system to increase efficiency, productivity and service. As part of this data project, the Department put the traditional year-end transportation reports (July 30 due date) on hold pending confirmation of the new transportation data system. The data team is committed to providing a quality data system that requires more design and development time. Given that, in order for the Department to collect and report FY 2011-12 (July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012) data during this quarter, we decided to open the existing MEDMS Transportation reports.

The forms opened midnight on Nov. 1 and will close midnight on Nov. 19. Please remember that district subsidy is linked to completion of year-end reports. In order for the Department to summarize the report data and calculate subsidy, we need you to do your part and submit your transportation data by the close date.

A copy of the instruction manual is found at the same link as the report form. Before you enter your district data, please print and follow the instruction manual for each report.

For assistance with technical issues while filing your transportation reports, call the MEDMS Help Desk at 624-6896. Common technical issues include using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, not entering zeros in fields which require a value, leaving blanks, using commas in values over 1,000 (such as miles), and the system sometimes “times out.”

In accordance with 20-A MRSA § 6801-A, subsidy checks will be withheld starting in January when Pupil Transportation reports have not been received by the due date.
