School nutrition service nominations sought

The Maine School Nutrition Association in partnership with the Maine DOE is seeking to honor school nutrition professionals who have achieved 20 years or more of service feeding the children of Maine. Awards are given out starting with 20 years of service in five year increments. The honorees are given certificates of appreciation, and those who have served 25 or more years receive pins.

These awards are given out each year at the school nutrition annual conference, being held this year in Lewiston at the Ramada Inn on Oct.5. The award ceremony for Years of Service honorees will be held during the morning general session, which begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

Your help is needed to identify these professionals in School Nutrition Programs statewide. If you have a person working in your school or district’s nutrition program that has reached one of these milestone years, please email Ellen Demmons at edemmons@rsu21.net with the following information:

  • Name of honoree
  • The honoree’s home mailing address
  • The number of years they will be honored for and the year they started
  • The school or district where they work
  • Your name and phone number

The person does not need to be a member of the association to attend and be honored by their peers. An invitation will be mailed to all of our honorees inviting them to attend the breakfast and ceremony at no charge.

Information must be received by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
