Section 504 training scheduled for March 28

The Maine DOE will host Section 504 training on March 28 in Augusta.

Region I Office for Civil Rights staff will discuss the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and explain the responsibilities of public schools in the education of students with disabilities. Additionally, a Maine panel of Section 504 experts will discuss individual school administrative unit’s approaches to the implementation of Section 504.  There will be time in each presentation for questions and answers.

Attendees will receive 5.75 contact hours.

The training, which will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held at the Maine Department of Public Safety’s Florian Hall at 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta. Registration can be completed before the March 14 deadline at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2014504Training.

The $30 registration fee should be mailed to Sheryl Banden, Maine DOE, 23 State House Station, Augusta, ME  04333-0023 with checks made payable to Treasurer, State of Maine.

Please note this training was originally scheduled for Oct. 11 of last year. If you had previously registered for that session, please contact the Maine DOE.
