Applications open for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

Maine is now accepting applications for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2014-15 school year. Applications must be completed for each school that is eligible for participation.

The purpose of the program is to increase fresh fruit and vegetable consumption by students in elementary schools in pre-kindergarten through grade 8.  Schools that are selected to participate include those with 50 percent or more of students eligible for free or reduced price meals. Selected schools must make fresh fruits and vegetables available at no charge to students at times other than at meal service periods.

To apply, the school superintendent or his/her designee must request an application by March 28 from Stephanie Clark at stephanie.clark@maine.gov. Applications for schools with 50 percent or more students eligible for free and reduced price school meals must be received by 4 p.m. on April 18 by email to Stephanie Clark.
