Maine’s PAEMST winners recognized in Washington, D.C.

Karen Jagonlinzer and Elizabeth Heidemann were among the 101 teachers recognized by President Obama earlier this month in Washington, D.C. as recipients of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science (PAEMST). The award is the highest in the nation for mathematics and science educators.

Jagonlinzer teaches mathematics at Frank H. Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth and Heidemann teaches science at Cushing Community School in Cushing.

Nominations are open through April 1 for the 2014 PAEMST Awards, which will honor mathematics and science (including computer science) teachers working in grades K-6. To submit a nomination, visit www.paemst.org/nomination/nominate.
