Maine DOE welcomes new Higher Education Specialist Angel Loredo

Angel Loredo has joined the Maine DOE as its Higher Education Specialist.

In his new role, Loredo will support development of higher education policy and oversee approval of educator preparation programming, additional degree granting for institutions of higher education and Maine proprietary schools. Loredo will work directly with the State Board of Education.

Loredo brings a passion for access to higher education and multicultural programming. He has gained his expertise working with professors and students at the University of Houston (Texas) and Southern Methodists University (Texas). Most recently, Loredo worked at the University of Maine where he served as the Associate Dean of Students and worked at the Wabanaki Center.

Loredo earned a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, a Masters in Liberal Studies from Southern Methodist University and is completing his doctorate at the University of Maine. He is excited about using his knowledge and skills in the context of higher education policy in Maine and having the opportunity to build solid PreK-16 connections for Maine students and educators.
