Maine DOE provides proficiency-based IEP goal writing workshop

The Maine DOE Office of Special Services is offering free trainings throughout the state in April to support school districts in writing proficiency-based Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

At the day-long sessions, Debora Murphy, Jessica Yates and Peg Armstrong will be providing evidence-based practice professional development for special educators in the instructional usage and IEP goal alignment with English language arts and mathematics standards for children with disabilities. Participating districts will be requested to utilize their standards, taxonomies and any other local resources used for developing lesson plans.

Trainings are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 14 at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer; April 15 at The Horn Restaurant in Houlton; and April 16 at the Lost Valley Ski and Banquet Resort in Auburn. Registration is required and can be completed by clicking here or contacting Maine DOE’s Debbie Violette at debbie.violette@maine.gov.
