Reminder of new certification hours for in-person visits

The Maine DOE is reminding individuals seeking to renew or apply for initial certification of new hours and a policy for in-person visits. Due to the current volume of applications and processing, including a criminal background check, please allow four to six weeks for completion.

In-person visits are only offered at the Department of Education (located on the 5th floor of the Burton Cross Office building in Augusta) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For convenience, a locked drop box for receiving applications is now available in the reception area. All applications, whether received in-person or otherwise, will be processed in the order they are received. To check the status of a pending application visit the MEDMS Report Portal. A new online credentialing system developed by Hupp Technologies is expected to be implemented in 2016 that will make the process more efficient and less time consuming for educators and staff. In the meantime, the Department appreciates the patience and understanding of all.
