Superintendents are being reminded that Maine educators, who attained National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (or its successor organization) certification prior to July 1, may be eligible for a salary supplement for the 2015-16 school year.
Eligible staff includes public school teachers or teachers in a publicly supported secondary school, guidance counselors, teacher leaders, or school principals. The amount of the salary supplement for the upcoming year is $3,000 unless proration is necessary.
To submit a request for supplement, the superintendent of a school administrative unit (SAU) or the director of a publicly supported secondary school or career and technical education center must file a list of national board certified staff by Oct. 15 to the Maine DOE.
