Two Maine School Food Service Directors were recognized for their outstanding work by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Northeast Regional office. The two directors were featured in the USDA’s first publication of The Cafeteria Chronicles.
Jeanne Reilly is Food Service Director of RSU 14, Windham/Raymond. Jeanne talks about her success using a positive focus. She has increased the student participation during a time of declining participation and has worked with her team by improving morale, providing chef training, and connecting with the students.
David Leighton is Food Service Director of RSU 19, Newport area. David acknowledged his success from his strong faith. He set a goal of best lunches possible. Applying his years of experience, he took the program from the red into the black. He is a strong supporter of using local products for the students. He organized a food show for his school district nine years ago. Today it is one of the largest food shows for Maine schools.
