Liz Giles-Brown, a physical education teacher at South Bristol Elementary School and Southport Central School, was honored during the Professional Excellence Awards Ceremony recently for her work with Jump Rope For Heart program (JRFH).

Giles-Brown has been teaching physical education since 1987 and has been coordinating JRFH events for the past 20 years. She has coached a traveling JRFH demonstration team in South Bristol since 1996 and has led an after-school, multi-generational circus arts program since 2006. In Southport, she combined JRFH and circus arts to run an after-school Jump & Juggle program for students in grades 3-6.

SHAPE America has partnered for more than 36 years with the American Heart Association, sponsoring Jump Rope For Heart (JRFH) and Hoops for Heart (HFH).
Each year SHAPE America recognizes up to two Jump Rope For Heart coordinators and one Hoops For Heart coordinator to receive the prestigious SHAPE America JRFH/HFH Recognition Award.
