Secure your seat now for the 2016 Summer Literacy Institute

The Maine Department of Education’s literacy team is conducting one-day workshops in August to support Maine educators as they continue to develop proficiency systems in their schools. Sessions will focus on development of effective routines and strategies that have the greatest impact on student achievement.

Participants will increase their understanding of Maine’s ELA/literacy standards with models and examples of routines and strategies that are tailored to the grade span featured in each session. Participants will leave with resources they can immediately use in their schools and classrooms.

During the institute, participants will learn about productive and collaborative conversation in the classroom, how to improve reading and writing skills, how to ensure students experience a staircase of text complexity across a variety of texts, and how to scaffold instruction for all students to access complex texts.

Register today for one or more of the following sessions:

August 2 at Keeley’s Banquet Center, Portland
August 9 at Jeff’s Catering, Brewer
