The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Boston Field Office, in collaboration with the Maine Department of Education, Maine School Safety Center, will offer a 90-minute virtual training on September 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The training will focus on responding to and investigating bomb threats and swatting hoaxes, providing participants with an overview of these types of incidents, including statistics and current trends seen across the country.
Participants will learn about the characteristics of hoax calls, law enforcement best practices for assessing and responding to threats, and the decision-making process surrounding evacuation or sheltering in place.
The training is intended for public safety dispatchers, law enforcement personnel, and school personnel, including administrators and front office staff.
