The Maine Career and Technical Education team is pleased to be able to offer secondary CTE schools an opportunity to update and renew their safety checklists and policies. The CTE team has provided a Perkins targeted grant to David Dorr, Director, Somerset Career and Technical Center to facilitate this joint project.

Critical staff data correction for FY 17 EPS subsidy calculation

The following Priority Notice was sent to District Administrators today to alert them of a critical Dec. 28 deadline to correct errors in reporting of Years of Experience in NEO Staff that may negatively impact the calculation of subsidy for FY 17.

In reviewing the Staff Data download from Dec. 1, 2015 to be used in the FY 17 Essential Programs and Services (EPS) Funding calculations, the Department found a large number of possible errors related to the Years of Experience for Staff. This potential error could negatively impact the calculation of subsidy for FY 17.

Maine DOE partners with the UMF Office of Graduate Studies

Title I Schools identified as Focus within Maine, and demonstrating within school achievement gaps in mathematics performance, have the opportunity to utilize program improvement funds to support participation in the Maine Mathematics Coaching Project (MMCP) sponsored by the University of Maine at Farmington’s Office of Graduate Studies.

Charter Commission approves Acadia Academy and Snow Pond Arts Academy

The Maine Charter School Commission voted to approve two additional charter schools, which could begin serving students in the fall of 2016.

Districts receive PEPG system development grants

The Maine DOE is proud to report the distribution of 139 grants to school administrative units (SAUs) across the state of $4,600 each to support the development of performance evaluation and professional growth (PEPG) systems. The grant money was available to any school district that submitted their Intent to Pilot survey and submitted the PEPG Grant Application.

EPS funding calculation data needed now

The following Priority Notice was sent to district administrators on Monday, Oct. 26.

It is imperative that you ensure your staff data is complete and accurate prior to the Nov. 13, 2015 deadline for the superintendent to certify your staff data. Between Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Nov. 13, all school administrative units and required private schools must certify the staff data.
