Two more public charter schools OK’d

The following is a news release from the Maine Charter School Commission.

AUGUSTA – The Maine Charter School Commission voted Tuesday to approve two more public charter schools. Members unanimously approved the Baxter Academy of Technology and Science to open in Portland in the fall of 2013, and reversed an earlier vote by approving the Cornville Regional Charter School to open this fall.

Charter School Commission approves Academy of Natural Sciences

AUGUSTA – The Maine Charter School Commission voted Friday to approve the application from the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences to move to the contract phase that will result in becoming the first public charter school in Maine’s history.

Charter School Commission to hold first public hearings

The following is a news release from the Maine Charter School Commission.

AUGUSTA—The Maine Charter School Commission will hold public hearings on June 15 and 18 regarding three applications it received from groups seeking to open charter schools. Members of the public are invited to attend and encouraged to offer testimony in favor or opposition, as well as to submit written comments.
