Vote for the only Maine school to be a finalist in the America’s Greenest School contest!
A letter from Mrs. Merrifield’s fourth grade class at Falmouth’s Plummer Motz School:
Dear Commissioner Gendron,
We are fourth graders at the Plummer Motz School in Falmouth, Maine. We thought you would be especially interested to learn our exciting news. We recently entered a national contest called “America’s Greenest School.” Students from across the country in grades k – 12 were asked to submit an entry showing how their school could become greener. We chose to make a video showing students and adults “simple” ways to be green. Last week we learned that we were selected as a top ten finalist from approximately 550 entries. We should add that we are the only Maine school represented in the finals.
This Monday, March 22nd, our video will be posted at www.americasgreenestschool.com along with the entries of the other nine finalists. People from across the country are being asked to vote once each day starting Monday, March 22nd until April 2nd. The entry receiving the most votes will be declared the winner of the contest. Prizes include a Hybrid bus for our district valued at $150,000.00 along with scholarship money for the students in our class. Our goal is to spread the word to as many people as we can in hopes of getting their votes. We hope that you would consider voting for our entry entitled “We Invite You” for the twelve days of the voting period.
Every vote counts, so please SPREAD THE WORD! Please tell your family, friends and coworkers about our entry in the contest. Should you wish to view the video on YouTube, go to this site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwUqvLvhG0c. We thank you in advance for your vote!
Sincerely, Mrs. Merrifields’s Fourth Grade Class Plummer Motz School 192 Middle Road Falmouth, Maine
