Maine school districts can expect to receive about $48.1 million in federal funds for the 2011-12 school year to pay for special-education programs for school-age children.
The U.S. Department of Education recently released the preliminary figures for each state’s allocation under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the Maine Department of Education has determined the size of each district’s award.
Final award amounts — which could differ from the preliminary awards — will likely become available in mid-July. The U.S. Department of Education has yet to make awards under section 619 of IDEA, which funds special education services for pre-school children.
The spreadsheet below contains each district’s preliminary allocation, which could change before award amounts are finalized.
