Education Commissioner Stephen Bowen will join Gov. Paul LePage, Maine Development Foundation President Laurie Lachance, and education and business leaders from Maine’s Midcoast on Oct. 3 for a wide-ranging discussion about the role of education in that region’s economy.
The event, called “Education – an Economic Imperative for the Midcoast,” will feature addresses by LePage and Lachance, a panel discussion about the future of high school education in the Midcoast with school superintendents from the area, and a roundtable discussion with Bowen and representatives of Maine’s higher education and business communities.
The event takes place at 6 p.m. at Rockland’s Strand Theatre. It’s free and open to the public.
The session is sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank.
