Training available for Transfinder transport software

The Maine Department of Education is partnering with Transfinder throughout the 2011-12 school year to offer online training in the company’s Student Routing and Transportation Management System.

The Department of Education offers the Transfinder software package to school districts at no cost. The software package provides districts with:

  • A computerized routing system complete with county maps;
  • Automated field trip tracking;
  • Dissemination of information to parents and community members; and
  • Fleet maintenance management.

Course descriptions and training schedules are available online at: http://www.maine.gov/education/const/trans/home.htm. To register, contact Diane Blackman, Transfinder’s Maine account executive, by email at dblackman@transfinder.com.

New Transfinder users are encouraged to register for the class series. Existing users can register for individual classes to refine knowledge and learn about software updates.

Some 84 Maine school districts with 373 schools have begun using Transfinder software in the two years it has been available to save funds by planning efficient bus routes. One of those districts – Regional School Unit 59 of Madison – is the subject of a Transfinder case study, which can be found at: http://www.transfinder.com/resources/casestudy_detail.cfm?ID=28.
