Notice of public meeting to discuss Baxter Academy

The Maine Charter School Commission will hold a public meeting with the board of Baxter Academy for Technology and Science, a Maine charter school set to open in Portland next fall. The meeting will be held Monday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cross State Office Building (room 104) in Augusta.

Board members will discuss the board’s progress, plans moving forward, and impending action on Baxter Academy’s student applications. Interested members of the public are invited to attend.

Baxter Academy aims to be a rigorous, college preparatory high school promoting student ownership of learning through curriculum focused specifically on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Baxter plans to serve students with a strong interest in science technology, engineering and mathematics. Students at Baxter will follow a standards-based curriculum for English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and the arts.
