AP4ALL registration now open

Student registration for AP4ALL, which provides online Advanced Placement courses free of charge to any student residing in a Maine school administrative unit who is educated at the public expense, opens Wednesday, March 20, at 8 a.m. By offering online Advanced Placement courses at no charge, AP4ALL provides equity of access to any student residing in a Maine public high school regardless of where they live and the limits of resources available in their local school.

Enrollment will be capped at 20 students per course. Maine public high school students residing in a school administrative unit and who are being educated at public expense will be enrolled before non-Maine public high school students. Homeschooled students may participate in AP4ALL if they are registered through a local school administrative unit.

After the initial registration period has ended on April 3, if more than 20 students are registered for any course, a random drawing will be made to select those who will be enrolled in that course. Students whose registrations are not selected will be placed on a waiting list, and depending on circumstances, the Maine DOE may consider adding additional sections in oversubscribed subject areas. If fewer than 20 students are enrolled in any course by April 3, registrations will continue to be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis throughout the summer and up until the first day that courses are scheduled to start (Sept. 3, 2013).

In 2013-14, through AP4ALL, the Maine DOE will be offering 23 online Advanced Placement courses. Subject areas that will be offered in 2013-14 include: AP Art History, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science, AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Environmental Science, AP European History, AP Latin, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP Music Theory, AP Psychology, AP Spanish Language, AP Statistics, AP Studio Art: 2D Design, AP Studio Art: 3D Design AP Studio Art: Drawing, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP U.S. History, and AP World History.
