Free professional development to expand STEM teaching skills

The course schedule for the Maine School of Science and Mathematics’ 2013 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Educators’ Camp is now available. This camp is for educators looking to expand their repertoire of STEM teaching skills, delve deeper into STEM course content, develop ways to engage kids in STEM, get kids motivated in independent STEM research or start an after-school STEM club. A group of educators will present 26 different STEM course options this year.

STEM Educators’ Camp will be held July 28 through Aug. 2 and is free for all Maine educators thanks to a generous donation through the Maine Community Foundation.

Freeman Hrabowski, a prominent STEM educational leader and current president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will be delivering a keynote address on Sunday, July 28 from 5-6 p.m. The address is open to the general public as well as registered participants.

Participants can register for the Educators’ Camp online at www.mssm.org/stemcollaborative. For more information please contact the Maine School of Science and Mathematics Office at 207-325-3303.
