Maine DOE welcomes new Arts Specialist

Kevin Facer has joined the Maine DOE as its Visual and Performing Arts Specialist. In his new role, Facer will support districts in their implementation of best practices in visual and performing arts education, participate in the Maine Arts Assessment Initiative and serve as the regional representative for Washington and Hancock Counties.

Facer brings a broad range of educational experience to his new position. He has taught visual arts at the high school and college levels, has coordinated visual and performing arts curriculum and gifted and talented programming at the district level, and managed arts exhibits. He brings experience from New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Facer earned a B.A. and an M.A. in Humanities from Pennsylvania State University, an M. Ed. in Arts Education from Millersville University and an Ed.D. (ABD) from Aspen University. He is eager to become part of Maine’s educational community and support Visual and Performing Arts across the state.
