Schools invited to June wellness conference

Maine schools are invited to attend the 29th Annual Maine DOE Schoolsite Health Promotion & Wellness Conference, to be held Tuesday, June 24 through Thursday, June 26 at Sugarloaf.

The conference features more than 30 workshops sessions and roundtable sessions, more than 20 health screenings and an expansive exhibit hall that provides information, resource materials and tools to help attendees in the development and maintenance of a culture of health promotion and wellness at the local level.

This professional development experience provides a forum for representatives of a school or school administrative unit to discuss and respond to issues related to employee wellness, health promotion for staff and students, and the maintenance of a healthy learning environment as part of a coordinated approach to school health.

School teams use the knowledge to design an action plan for the coming school year that will work to enhance school climate and school environment; improve the health of students and staff; contribute to personal well-being and therefore contribute to a healthier learning environment and improved academic performance.
