Student lunch prices set for 2015 school year

The maximum price students can be charged for school lunch in School Year 2015 is $3 per lunch. Districts who wish to exceed this amount must complete a price waiver request form and submit it on behalf of their legal agent/superintendent to Maine DOE’s Office of Child Nutrition.

The maximum price is determined by the Department and the School Nutrition Programs Committee.

Districts should also remember the federal Price Equity regulation for student lunches.  Districts must maintain documentation on Price Equity information, including through the use of the Price Equity Tool developed by the United States Department of Agriculture.

The yearly application to participate and parent letters must all agree for federal and State reimbursement of meals. The new web-based system NEO will collect this information from districts effective July 1.
