Over 750 people have participated in the 13 NEO data system training workshops across the state with the final two sessions wrapping up this week.
The training has been crucial because the Maine DOE Data Management System (MEDMS) staff data collection has been transferred into a new system called NEO Staff. Certification status and other staff reports will remain in MEDMS for the time being, with nightly data uploads from NEO to MEDMS to keep data current. In addition to the staff data collection, a new version of the NEO Maine Schools module has rolled out this week. Districts and schools will need to enter data into this module to communicate current contact information and grades offered data. Maine Schools needs to be complete prior to the October student count. More information regarding this requirement will be forthcoming in the next Commissioner’s Update.
Later this fall the Department will also be utilizing NEO to implement a new reporting system for the purpose of calculating graduation/dropout data. Look for more information regarding this rollout later this September. Any questions regarding NEO may be directed to the Helpdesk by calling 624-6896 or emailing MEDMS.Helpdesk@maine.gov.
