The 2014-15 graduation and dropout rates show an increase and decline respectively. The data has been completed and certified by all public and 60 percent publicly funded private schools. The publicly viewable data can be found on the Maine Department of Education’s NEO Dashboard located here.
The 2014-15 statewide graduation rate was 87.55 percent which was nearly a full percentage point better than the 2013-14 graduation rate of 86.48 percent.
Seventy-five schools out of 137 schools (55 percent) saw an increase in their graduation rate from the 2013-14 school year.
In addition, the dropout rate also decreased from 2.7 percent in 2013-14 to 2.1 percent in 2014-15.
Superintendents can also view the graduation rates broken down by subgroup by logging into the NEO and selecting “Graduation Reports” from within the Graduation Module.
This year was the first year using the new NEO Graduation module for this reporting. Though there were a few glitches, the overall feedback from the districts was favorable and districts found this new process much easier to complete.
