Maine DOE seeks to fill vacancies on Title I Committee of Practitioners

Title I of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that each state educational agency that receives Title I funds must create a State Committee of Practitioners (COP) to advise the State in carrying out its responsibilities under the Title I program.

The purpose of this committee is to review any State rules and regulations relating to Title I to ensure that they conform to the intent and purposes of Title I.

The majority of members must be representatives from local education agencies and in addition, must include representatives from the following categories:

  • Administrators
  • Teachers, including vocational educators
  • Parents*
  • Members of local school boards*
  • Representatives of private school children*
  • Pupil Services Personnel
    *areas currently under-represented

Regular meetings of the committee will be conducted on a quarterly basis with the term of membership commencing this month, expiring July 31, 2018.
