Revised due process form and procedure

The Due Process Office has revised its Resolution Meeting Status form and related procedures to more closely align them with federal regulations.  The revised document, which has been renamed the Resolution Session Status form, simplifies the reporting of Resolution Session outcomes.

An October conference in Machias will bring together teachers, special educators, learning disabilities specialists, school psychologists, curriculum development specialists and school administrators to examine the neurological and cognitive deficits underlying the most common types of literacy problems.

Reporting ARRA funds awarded under IDEA, Part B

Note: This dispatch was updated on Sept. 30, 2011, to include a Nov. 1 deadline for submitting performance report.

The Maine Department of Education is allowing school districts to begin filing online performance reports concerning their expenditures of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds awarded under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Special purpose rates to remain unchanged

The Maine Department of Education has decided to continue, for the period starting Oct. 1, 2011, to use the educational rates that are currently in place. All special purpose private schools will continue to use the education rates that were established for the 2010-11 school year until further notice.
